Mahogany seed pods, also called mahogany beans, are a product of the Swietenia macrophylla tree.  The mahogany pods are durable, oblong, lightweight, woody capsules.

Preparation for Aquarium/Paludarium Use:

1. Boil: Boil the pods for at least 30 minutes to help them sink and leach initial tannins.  These pods can be difficult to waterlog.

2. Soak: Soak in clean water overnight or longer if needed, changing the water daily, until they are fully waterlogged and the desired amount of tannin has been leached.

3. Ready to Use: Once they sink and you've achieved your desired water coloration, they are ready to be added to your setup.
